PalmML: Sound page
Pickup morphing and stereo width, the tone filter, Tight ↔ Ring articulation, envelope, velocity dynamics, motion & true vibrato, and the BBD chorus.

Pickup
- Pickup — continuous morph from bridge to neck. Both positions were recorded for every note, so this is a recorded difference, not an EQ curve — and it can move smoothly during a held note without clicks.
- Width — stereo width built from the independent left/right takes, from a mono-compatible centre to wide. At zero the signal stays centred and mono-compatible.
Tone
- Tone — cutoff of the non-linear four-pole filter, 30 Hz–18 kHz.
- Body — resonance of the four-pole ladder filter, 0–100 %.
- Low Cut — smoothed high-pass at Off / 160 / 310 / 610 Hz.
Tight ↔ Ring
This control changes the articulation independently of the ADSR envelope:
- Towards Tight, the ~353 ms source note shortens continuously down to a ~95 ms staccato, and the modeled StringRing energy shortens to about 100 ms.
- Towards Ring, the note-locked StringRing resonance extends to roughly 2.4 seconds — a singing, sustaining string character. Ring can keep a small StringRing component audible even with Liquid at zero.
- It never opens the Dark Plate reverb — it is a true articulation control, not a room.
Envelope
A full ADSR shapes the voice: Attack 1 ms–8 s, Decay 5 ms–12 s, Sustain 0–100 %, Release 5 ms–12 s. The short, unlooped dry recording itself is not stretched by a long release — long pads and swells come from Liquid, Ring and the Dark Plate working together.
Dynamics
Switchable velocity response: Level sets how strongly velocity drives loudness, Tone how much low velocities darken the sound (up to about two octaves at the softest touch; full velocity stays tonally neutral). Switched off, velocity shaping is bypassed entirely.
Motion & true vibrato
- Rate — global triangle LFO, 0.05–30 Hz.
- Delay — fade-in of the movement, 0–5 s.
- → Filter — LFO amount onto the filter frequency.
- Vibrato — modulates the actual sample playback rate, up to about ±1 semitone at full depth. Real pitch movement, not a chorus imitation.
BBD chorus
Modes Off / I / II / I+II — a stereo modulated delay with a dark wet path and gentle saturation. I and II are tuned wide; I+II focuses slightly toward the centre.
