Outboard-Verb — Press Kit

Outboard Audio has released Outboard-Verb, a stereo delay and reverb for Windows and macOS in VST3, AU and CLAP formats. Its distinguishing control is a six-band decay EQ: each band multiplies the reverb's decay time in its own frequency range rather than changing its level. A band set to 0.3× makes that range die away in under a third of the time; one at 1.9× lets it ring on nearly twice as long. Level is unaffected, so a large room can keep its size while the high end stops smearing.

A second six-band equaliser shapes the wet path only, drawn over a live spectrum of the processed signal, while the dry signal passes through untouched. The reverb itself is true stereo: left and right run through two independent networks rather than one mono tail spread apart, which keeps a wide setting stable when a mix is checked in mono.

The delay and the reverb occupy one plugin and can run separately or together, with the delay feeding the reverb. Switching between the three states crossfades over roughly 25 milliseconds rather than cutting, so the mode can be changed during a take. Space runs from 0.1 to 20 seconds, with a predelay of up to 500 milliseconds to keep the source in front of the tail. The delay section offers two taps with an adjustable offset, ping-pong, feedback crossfeed, a darkening feedback tone and low and high cuts inside the loop, so their effect accumulates with every repeat.

An alternative reverb character, the Liquid engine, replaces the classic tank with a space that drifts rather than standing still: Flow sets how much it moves, Shimmer lifts a harmonic sheen above the tail, and Tide swells the whole thing slowly in and out. A freeze holds the current tail indefinitely while the rest of the plugin stays live, so the held bed can still be shaped with either equaliser.

540 factory presets ship in 20 categories — 420 reverb and Liquid presets, 60 delays and 60 that route the delay into the reverb, 120 of them built on the Liquid engine — with search, favourites, user presets and a personal default that loads with every new instance.

System requirements: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) or macOS 10.15 or later on Intel or Apple Silicon. The interface is resizable and uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Runtime on Windows. The macOS package is signed and notarised.
