Outboard-EQ is an 8-band mastering equalizer with dynamic EQ, spectral dynamics, linear and hybrid phase, per-band hardware character stages, EQ Match, full mastering metering (true-peak + LUFS + K-meter scales), and native multichannel support up to Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 — all in a single plugin.
What it's for
Outboard-EQ is one tool that covers three jobs that usually need three plugins:
- Mixing — surgical cuts, musical boosts, dynamic de-essing, drum-bus glue, resonance suppression.
- Mastering — gentle 8-band shaping, M/S work, linear-phase mode, LUFS-target metering for streaming platforms, K-weighted bypass for honest A/B.
- Character — per-band Op-Amp, tape, Pultec, density, transient and SplitEQ stages turn the EQ into a coloration tool, not just a corrective one.
What's inside
- 8 parametric bands with 18 filter types and per-band slopes from 6 to 96 dB/oct.
- Dynamic EQ on every band, with four detector modes (Peak, RMS, Adaptive, Spectral) and an optional free sidechain.
- Spectral dynamics — Soothe2-style per-bin resonance suppression when a band is set to Spectral mode.
- Five phase modes: minimum phase (zero latency), natural, linear phase, hybrid (LF min-phase + HF linear-phase), and per-band.
- Per-band character stages — Op-Amp (Neve / API / SSL), Tape (15 / 30 ips with bias), Pultec low-end, Density waveshaper, Transient designer, SplitEQ tonal/transient gain.
- Global mastering stages — SubTight, PowerSag, Coils saturation, PurestAir slew-limiter, Mono Maker, Tilt, K-weighted Equal-Loud Bypass, output trim, input/output gain stages with clipping, side-saturation, monitor iso.
- Three spectrum taps (pre / post / external) with cross-instance broker (32 slots).
- EQ Match against four built-in targets (Pink Noise, Bach Orchestral, Hip-Hop, Modern Pop) or any captured source.
- Full mastering meter — true-peak (4× polyphase, ITU-R BS.1770), LUFS metering with nine streaming-target presets (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Vinyl, CD, Club, EBU R128, ATSC A/85), stereo correlation, K-12 / K-14 / K-20 reference scales, per-channel monitor iso.
- 133 factory presets across four categories — Instrument, Mixing, Mastering, and Character — plus a user library and a default slot.
Plugin formats
VST3 and CLAP for Windows 10 (Build 17134, April 2018) and Windows 11. A macOS build (VST3, AU, CLAP; Intel and Apple Silicon) is in preparation.
