Outboard-60 L is a six-voice analog polysynth grown into a resonant Liquid engine — anti-aliased oscillators, a four-pole resonant filter, one envelope, an LFO and a stereo chorus, plus a floating Luminous grain layer, piano pedals, a Smart arpeggiator, and a reverb and delay to place it in a room.

What it's for

Outboard-60 L is a classic-voiced polysynth with a second nature. Set the LIQUID control to zero and you have a faithful analog poly — oscillators, filter, envelope, LFO and stereo chorus. Turn LIQUID up and each note blooms into a breathing choir of strings and soundboard: the physics of a real acoustic instrument, tuned by ear. Six subtly-detuned voices, wrapped in an immersive interface.

What's inside

  • Anti-aliased oscillators — a full-range sawtooth, a pulse with breathing pulse-width modulation, and a sub an octave below for weight, plus noise for the filter to chew on. Everything is band-limited and oversampled, so even the highest notes stay clean.
  • A four-pole resonant filter — a 24 dB/oct resonant low-pass with a resonance that climbs into a clean self-oscillating sine, key-tracking that follows the keyboard, and a soft-clipping drive that fattens as you push it.
  • One envelope, one LFO — a single snappy ADSR shapes both the filter and the amplitude, with true, analog-style exponential segments. A triangle LFO with a fade-in delay adds vibrato, filter movement and pulse-width sweep.
  • The stereo chorus — two phase-inverted, modulated delay lines that widen the sound into a lush stereo image, in modes I, II and I+II, from a gentle shimmer to a deep swirl.
  • The Liquid resonance engine — nine controls turn each note into a detuned string choir with sympathetic resonance and a modeled soundboard: string chorus, bridge admittance, inharmonicity, hammer hardness and a treble-to-bass stretch tuning. Set LIQUID to zero for the classic synth, bit for bit.
  • Luminous — a note-triggered grain layer that floats soft, shimmering tones above the voice. It stays inside the song's harmony, follows the plugin's own tuning, and blends from a faint halo to a full second instrument.
  • Smart Arp — hold a chord and it writes a musical phrase: Melody, Phrase, Counterline or Bass Follow, with motif memory, humanize and voice-leading that keep it moving like a player. Drag the pattern straight out of the monitor onto a DAW track as MIDI. A faithful classic arpeggiator is one click away when that is all you need.
  • Six analog voices — six-voice polyphony where each voice carries its own subtle tuning and character drift, from dead-clean to gently unstable, shaped by the Variance and Drift controls.
  • Piano pedals — a sustain pedal that holds notes while a bank of sympathetic strings blooms in resonance, plus sostenuto and an una-corda-style softening.
  • Reverb & delay — a dual-network reverb and a stereo ping-pong delay place the instrument in a room, from an intimate space to a wide, endless tail.
  • Presets — a full factory bank organised by category, a machine-wide favorites list, and a personal default patch that loads on every new instance — all in a single canvas-wide overlay.

Getting started

  1. Load Outboard-60 L on an instrument track and play a chord — the six voices and the stereo chorus give you the classic sound straight away.
  2. Bring up LIQUID to hear each note bloom into a resonant string-and-body choir.
  3. Open the preset overlay from the header (the name with the arrows) to browse the factory bank, star favorites, and set your own default patch.
  4. Hold a chord and switch Smart Arp on to turn it into a moving line — then drag the pattern onto a DAW track as MIDI.
