PalmML: Interface & Liquid footer

The Outboard PalmML window: header with master strip, preset navigation and Quality selector, the five pages, and the always-visible Liquid footer.

Questa pagina è attualmente mostrata in inglese. La versione localizzata è in arrivo.

Outboard PalmML uses a fixed 1200 × 900 window. The most important global controls stay reachable on every page: the header on top, the Liquid footer at the bottom.

PalmML header strip

  • Volume — output level, −60 to +6 dB.
  • Tune — global model tuning, −50 to +50 cents.
  • A4 — reference pitch, 415–466 Hz.
  • Previous / Preset / Next — steps through the 112 factory presets; clicking the name opens the internal preset browser.
  • Quality — 1×, 2×, 4× or 8× oversampling for the voice engine (default 2×). An offline render automatically uses 8×. The resulting latency is reported to the host.
  • Outboard logo — opens product information and the licence view.
  • Main · Sound · Rig · FX · Tuning — the five pages.

Knobs respond to vertical dragging; hold Shift for fine adjustment, double-click to reset a control to its default, and use the arrow keys, Page Up/Down, Home and End for keyboard control.

PalmML Liquid footer

The Liquid section is the tonal core of PalmML and stays visible on every page. The recorded palm-mute stays untouched — these controls shape the modeled resonance layer that the real attack excites:

  • Liquid — overall amount of the modeled resonance layer. At zero (with a neutral Tight ↔ Ring), the dry recording is all you hear.
  • FoundationVoicing (register-dependent character of damping, dispersion and metallic content) and Tune (fine tuning of the modeled wet string; the dry take is never repitched).
  • String · BridgeBloom (decay of the StringRing and its short sympathetic halo), String (inharmonicity and dispersion of the note-locked StringRing) and Whiten (removes up to 9 dB of the dominant low resonance from the Liquid excitation, leaving the real attack intact).
  • ResonanceCab (fixed speaker-style voicing inside the Liquid architecture), Sympa (harmonically selected sympathetic overtones after a Drop-A seven-string fingerprint) and Clang (a short, metallic, slightly inharmonic overtone component).

Voices

PalmML is always polyphonic with six voices. When all six are busy, the oldest voice is taken over. Sustain (CC64) and sostenuto (CC66) are supported; global pitch bend and MPE are not.
